Existen muchas maneras de aprender y practicar idiomas. Intercambios de idiomas, clases particulares, libros, páginas webs para mejorar una lengua, etc. Con un amigo, que hemos tenido los mismos pensamientos que tú, nos hemos montado una web de lenguas (Babelan) para que cualquiera pueda encontrar recursos en inernet para estudiar lenguas (intercambios, clases, webs, etc). Seguro que puedes tirar adelante tu inglés sin tener que pasar por el British Institute. http://www.babelan.net No todo empieza y acaba en un curso del British Institute. Everybody is able to learn by herself -in your case- words, phrasal verbs, etc. but the main problem is the conversation stuff -listening, understanding, speaking- British Institute provides you with good teachers but you share them with an average of 13-15 people. You have the best multimedia center but if you are working the time is very limited and is almost impossible to obtain the full benefits. The personal teacher is more expensive 20-30€ -I mean a real teacher- but he/she is just for you and you save the commuting time -a pain in the ass if you live in Madrid- As you can see my English is a cow's shit but I am able to understand and be understood for others.
